Did You Know:  The Sri Kamadchi Ampal Temple in Hamm, Germany, is the largest Hindu temple in Europe. The architecture of the building was inspired by the Sri Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple, located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India.[2]

According to www.destatis.de[1], there are 171,895 people of Indian ancestry or descent residing in Germany. The majority of Indians are Tamils and Bengalis. Telugus, Punjabis, Malayalis, and Gujaratis are other significant communities of Indian origin in Germany.

Furthermore, about 25,900 Sri Lankan Tamils from subsequent generations have settled in Germany. The increasing Tamil population led to a rise in religious fervor. This led to an increase in the number of Hindu temples in Germany than ever before; there are around 53.
