In recent days, there has been a surge in complaints and worry regarding the occurrence of fake phone calls by supposed Europol (European police department) officials throughout Germany.
Many Indian expats and foreigners, as well as German citizens, have received similar scam calls. The fraudster poses as a Europol officer and attempts to get your personal information.
Please be informed that Europol or German police will not contact you through phone or email and request personal and private information. Please never respond to the scammer and do not give any personal information such as bank account numbers, contract numbers, or personal identification numbers. Please hang up and do not answer the call.
This sort of scam call has proliferated in recent years; please be cautious and do not fall victim to these fraudsters.
