Passengers travelling to and from Germany will continue to be required to wear masks.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) stated that, as of May 16, 2020, flight passengers in Europe would no longer be obliged to wear masks on flights and airports.

This statement has left many passengers flying into and out of Germany confused regarding the mask requirements.

To clear the air, Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said that travelers travelling to and from Germany will still be required to wear masks throughout boarding and airplane travel. In addition, he said that the German government has no intentions to eliminate the mask requirement on flights, trains, and buses in the foreseeable future.
